Thursday, January 9 presents us with Day 2 of the track and field events in the 26th edition of the Ghana Universities Sports Association Games which is being hosted by the University of Ghana.
Day 1 saw the likes of Benjamin Azamati of the University of Ghana winning gold in the 100m race (Male division) with Kate Agyemang of the University for Development Studies winning same in the female division of the 100m.
Kate Agyemang run a time of 11.86 seconds beating University of Cape Coast duo Latifah Ibrahim and Janet Mensah who finished second and third respectively.
In high jump, Rose Yeboah of University of Cape Coast won gold in the women’s division after a setting a new GUSA record with a clearance of 1.85m.
William Amponsah of the University of Cape Coast also won gold in the men’s 5000m after setting a new GUSA record.
He won with a time of 14.16mins, breaking the previous record which stood at 14.56mins.
